Max Hartinger, a police inspector from Rosenheim in Upper Bavaria, travels with his Italian wife Chiara and their two daughters to the island of Ischia in the Gulf of Naples for their summer vacation, where Chiara's brother, Maresciallo Bianchi, works as a Carabiniere. A few days before the Hartinger family's arrival, an Italian man was mysteriously murdered on Ischia. When a second murder occurs at their hotel shortly after the Hartingers arrive on the island, Max immediately finds himself in the middle of the investigation, much to his wife's dismay. While Chiara and their two daughters try to enjoy their beach vacation on the beautiful island despite everything, Max Hartinger is unable to get into the holiday spirit until he finds the key to solving the two murder cases...
